Here C only glows because it forms type of cell referred to as an Electrolytic cell. In an electrolytic cell the electrolyte Must be an Ionic compund.Acid,salts are generally ionic hence HCL is ionic.When the battery passes current through the electrolyte the H+ And CL-² ions move to their respective electrodes. H+ moves to the cathod while H+ ions move to anode.This causes the flow of current and the bulb glows. However Glucose and Alcoholic in A and B are NOT IONIC Compunds but instead covalent compund I.e their share electrons and form compunds hence they don't breaks into ions and thus a and b don't glow
