In addition to the formation of new substances, a chemical change may be accompanied by one or more changes:

1. Evolution of Gas

CaCO3 ➡️ CaO + CO2

2. Change of Colour

2[Pb(NO3)2] ➡️ 4(NO2) + 2(PbO) + O2

3. Formation of Precipitate

NaCl + AgNO3 ➡️ AgCl + NaNO3

4. Evolution of Heat

C + 2(S) ➡️ (CS2)

5. Sound may be produced

CH3COOH + NaHCO3 ➡️ CO2 + Hissing sound

6. Change of smell may occur

When cooked food containing oils and fats is kept in the open for long, it gets spoiled and gives a foul smell.
