in adjoining figure ab and ac are tangents to the circle with centre o and radius 8cm. If oa --is equal to 17cm then ac is...?

Hey,

Join OC.

OC is perpendicular to AC.

In right triangle OCA,

OC^2 + AC^2 = OC^2

So, 8^2 + AC^2 = 17^2

Then, AC is 15 cm...

OC is 8 cuz it's the radius...
