In adjoining figure, ABCD is a rectangle of size 18 cm by 10 cm. In triangle , angle E = 90 degree and EC = 8 cm. Find the area enclosed by the pentagon ABECD. [HINT: From triangle EBC, EB Square = 10 square - 8 square. Area of pentagon = area of rectangle ABCD - area of triangle EBC.]

Area of rect.abcd= 18*10
area=180cm sqr
area of triangle bec = 1/2*b*h
EB sqr =10*10-8*8
EB sqr=100-64=>36
EB =√36=>6cm
area of triangle=1/2*6*8=>24cm sqr
area of shaded portion =>180-24=>156cm sqr
