Step-by-step explanation:

Its 20 m.

To reach the winning post A will have to cover a distance of (500 - 140)m, i.e., 360 m.

While A covers 3 m, B covers 4 m.

While A covers 360 m, B covers (4/3)*360 = 480 m.

Thus, when A reaches the winning post, B covers 480 m and therefore remains 20 m behind.

A wins by 20 m.

Answer:

Ratio of speeds are 3:4.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that in an 800 meter race P got a head start of 100 meters.

Hence, P will have to cover 700m.

Q need to cover 800m.

Also, Q beats P by 100 meters.

So,  by the time Q covers 800m, P covers 600m.

As Speed is directly proportional to distance.

Hence Ratio of speeds are 600:800

=6:8

=3:4

Ratio of speeds are 3:4.
