We have unfortunately turned ourselves into ethical infants in the name of development. In reference to the poem Heart of the tree, the author indicates that people put so much effort to create things that would make our lives a bit more easier and a bit more happy that we forget to enjoy simple pleasures in life. We are so very enamoured with what we created that in essence we have almost forgotten what aesthetic pleasure truly is. These days you can't even enjoy a simple sunrise due to our oh so busy lives. I think that author tries to emphasise the point that development may be beneficial for human race as a whole but it is important not to forget our roots, our passion for life.
