Discount given=40%of x
=40/100×x
2x/5

S.P.=X-2/5X=3X/5
5×480/3=X

Answer:

The labelled price of the “pair of tops” is found to be Rs 800.

Explanation:

Let the labelled price of pair of tops be x.

For a 40% discount,

\frac { 40 } { 100 } \times x = \frac { 2 x } { 5 }

Original Price = ( labelled price – discount price)

= x - \frac { 2 x } { 5 } = \frac { 3 x } { 5 }

Given that

\begin{array} { c } { \frac { 3 x } { 5 } = 480 } \\\\ { 3 x = 480 \times 5 = 2400 } \\\\ { x = \frac { 2400 } { 3 } } \\\\ { x = 800 } \end{array}

Therefore, the labelled price of the “pair of tops” is found to be Rs 800.
