To Find :- Calculate the speed of the boat in still water.
Answer :-
Let us assume that,
- speed of boat in still water = x km/h .
- speed of current = y km/h .
so,
→ Speed of boat along the stream = 7km/h
→ x + y = 7 --------- Eqn.(1)
and,
→ Speed of boat against the stream = 3km/h
→ x - y = 3 --------- Eqn.(2)
Adding Eqn.(1) and Eqn.(2) we get,
→ x + y + x - y = 7 + 3
→ 2x = 10
→ x = 5 km/h (Ans.)
