Therefore the acceleration of arrow was 13.33 m/s².

Given : In an archery practice, the arrow was released from the bow with a velocity of 20m/s.It stucks to the board situated 15m ahead and stops.

To find : the rate at which the arrow was accelerated.

solution : from work energy theorem,

change in kinetic energy = work done on arrow

⇒1/2 mv² - 0 = force experienced by arrow × displacement

⇒1/2 mv² = ma × s

⇒a = v²/2s

here v = 20m/s and s = 15 m

so, a = (20)²/(2 × 15) = 400/30 = 13.33 m/s²

Therefore the acceleration of arrow was 13.33 m/s²
