In an army selection process, the ratio of selected to unselected candidates was 6:1. if 30 less had applied and 10 less selected, the ratio of selected to unselected would have been 7:1. how many candidates had applied for the process?

Total applied candidates will be (6x+x)

so, the equation will be,

6x-10/x-20=7/1

6x-10=7x-140

6x-7x=10-140

-x=-130

x=130

Total Applied candidates = (6*130+130)

= 780+130

= 910
