In an ecosystem, rats feed on grains. Name the trophic level to which the rats belong.

In this particular ecosystem, the plants which produce the grain are autotrophs or producers, and form the first trophic level.

The rats which feed on the grain are primary consumers, (as they feed off producers) and form the second trophic level.

If a cat were to eat the rats, the cat would be a carnivorous predator and a secondary consumer, thus forming the third trophic level.
