In an educational institution 40 percent of the students are hostellers and the rest are day-
scholars. Among the students 60 percent are low achievers and the rest are high achievers. If
10 percent of the high achievers are hostellers, then what percent of low achievers are
hostellers?

Given :-

Solution :-

From Diagram that uploaded we get :-

• 40% of total students are hostellers.
• 60% of total students are day - scholars.
• 60% of total students are Low achievers.
• 40% of total students are High achievers.

Now , we have given that, 10% of the high achievers are hostellers.

That means, 10% of the 40% high achievers are hostellers.

So,

→ 10% of 40%

→ (10 * 40) / 100

→ 4% of hostellers are and high achievers.

Therefore,

→ Rest of the hostellers are low achievers.

→ (40% - 4%)

→ 36% of the hostellers are low achievers.

Hence,

→ % of low achievers are hostellers = 36% of total low achievers = 36% of 60% = (36 * 60) / 100 = 21.6% (Ans.)
