Given:

Percentage of voters who didn’t cast vote = 10%

Percentage of votes declared invalid = 100/9%

Winner got = 75% of valid votes

Number of votes by which he won = 8000

Formula:

X% of Y = X/100 × Y

Calculation:

Let the number of voters in voter list be x

⇒ Number of people who cast their votes = 90% of x = 9x/10

⇒ Number of valid votes = 8/9 of 9x/10 = 8x/10 = 4x/5

Number of valid votes winner get = 75% of 4x/5 = 3x/5

⇒ Number of valid votes looser get = 25% of 4x/5 = x/5

According to the question

3x/5 – x/5 = 8000

⇒ x = 20000

∴ Number of voters in voter list = x = 20000
