0.5% of 55000 = 55000*0.5/100=275

275 votes were invalid so valid vote =55000-275
=54725

vote winning candidate got = 54725*56/100
=30646

Total number of votes polled = 55000.

(1)

Given that 0.5% votes were declared as invalid.

⇒ 0.5% of 55000

⇒ (0.5/100) * 55000

⇒ 275.

So, the number of valid votes = 55000 - 275

                                                 = 54725.

(2)

Given that winning candidate scored 56% of the total valid vote.

⇒ 56% of 54725

⇒ (56/100) * 54725

⇒ 30646.

Therefore, the number of votes winning candidate got = 30646.

Hope it helps!
