let the candidates be A and B

So,

A got 25% votes and B got (100-25)% votes

B got 75% votes

B defeated A by 270 votes and by (75-25)%

B defeated A by 50% votes

So,

50% of votes = 270

(50*2)% of votes = 270*2

100% of votes = 540

Therefore, 540 people voted
