Given :- in an election among three Ben Carl and mark Ben gets half of the vote of Carl . mark beats Carl by 300000 votes .carl beats Ben by 10% of the total votes. find the number of votes won by Ben if every vote casted was valid and not given to anyone except the given three contestant ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, carl got x of the total votes.

So,

→ Marks beats carl by = 300000 votes.

Than,

Total votes by marks = (x + 300000) votes.

and,

Ben gets = hald of the vote of carl = (x/2) votes.

now, we have given that, carl beats Ben by 10% of the total votes.

A/q,

carl - Ben = 10% of total votes .

→ (x - x/2) = 10% of [ x + x/2 + (x + 300000) ]

→ (x/2) = (10/100) * [(5x/2) + 300000]

→ (x/2) = (1/10) * [(5x/2) + 300000]

→ (10x/2) = [(5x/2) + 300000]

→ 5x = [(5x/2) + 300000]

→ 5x - (5x/2) = 300000

→ (10x - 5x)/2 = 300000

→ 5x = 600000

dividing both sides by 5,

x = 120000 .

Therefore,

The number of votes won by Ben = (x/2) = (120000/2) = 60,000 (Ans.)
