Total number of voter successful candidate registered = 577,500

Total number of voter rival candidate registered = 348,700

Find the total number of votes:

Total = 577,500 +  348,700 = 926,200

Find the difference in votes:

Difference = 577,500 +  348,700 = 228,800

Find the margin:

Margin percentage = 288,800/926,200 x 100 = 24.7%

Answer: The margin was 24.7%
