In an election,the winning candidate received 31488 votes which represented 48% of the electorate.The only other candidate received votes which formed 22% of the electorate.calculate a) the number of electorate and b) the number of people who did not oast their vote.

Let the number of electorate be x

a) x of 48% = 31488

48x = 3148800

x = 3148800÷48 = 65600

b) other candidate = 65600 of 22%
65600 × 22/100 = 14432

people who didn't vote = 65600 - 45920
=19680
