in an election there were only two candidates the winning candidate got 48 percent of the total votes his opponent got 6800 votes which represented 34 percent of the total votes .Find
(a) The no of votes polled
(b) the winning margin

Let x be the total votes.

34x/100=6800

x=20000

Therefore,total votes=20000

winning margin=48x/100

=(48*20000)100

=9600
