Let the no.of votes received by 3rd candidate be x
1st candidate got 3/7 of x = 3/7
2nd candidate got 2/5 of x = 2/5
⇒ 3/7 + 2/5 +x = 1
⇒ (15 + 14 +35x) /35 = 1
⇒ 29 + 35x = 35
⇒ 35x = 35 - 29
⇒ 35x = 6
⇒ x = 6/35
∴ The fraction of votes the 3rd candidate received = 6/35
