Let,

The total number of votes polled be x.

candidate \: 1 = \frac{57x}{100} \\  \\ candidate \: 2 =  \frac{43x}{100}

Since the difference of votes between the two is 2100

So,

 \frac{57x}{100}  -  \frac{43x}{100}  = 2100

 \frac{57x - 43x}{100}  = 2100

57x - 43x = 210000

14x = 210000 \\  \\ x =  \frac{210000}{14}

x = 15000

Hence, the total number of votes polled is 15000
