collision with a van that had stopped suddenly in
front of it. What is the energy change involved in this
process?

Answer:

a)Given conditions ⇒

Force acting = 200 N.

Time = 3 seconds.

Using the Formula,

Impulse = Force × Velocity

⇒ Impulse = 200 × 3

⇒ Impulse = 600 N-s.

Hence, the Impulse provided to the car is 600 N-s.

b)Impulse J= m ΔV

⇒ ΔV= J/m

⇒600 Ns/1200 kg

=0.5 m/s
