In an empty field, 180 tulips and 220 azaleas have been planted. If 270 more tulips are going to be planted, how many more azaleas must be planted so that 4/9 of the flowers in the field are azaleas?

Initially,
No. of tulips = 180.
No. of azaleas = 220
Now, after planting 270 tulips more
No. of tulips = 180+270 = 450.
Let the number of azaleas be x.
As per the question,
4/9 of total flowers = no. of azaleas
4/9* (450 + 220+x) = 220+x
4/9 * (670+x) = 220+x
2680 + 4x = 1980 +9x
5x = 700
x= 140
So, No. of more azaleas to be planted is 140.
