Let  x be the number of students who took the exam

80% passed the exam

Hence 20% failed the exam

Number of those who failed is 60

Hence

20% of x = 60

\frac{20x}{100}=60

2x=600

x = 300

Hence total number of students is 300

Since 60 failed

Number of those who passed = 300-60=240

Hence 240 students passed the exam
