x-y=10---------------eqn 2

on multiplying by 5 in eqn2

5x+10y=350-----------eqn 1

5x-5y=50--------------eqn3

on sbtracting eqn3 from eqn1

15y=300

y=20

putting the value of y in eqn 2

x-20=10

x=30

hence the no. of rs. 5 notes is 30 and no. of rs. 10 notes is 20.
