failed =14%
passed =86%
passed students = 559
total students = (559*100)/86=650
failed students = total students- passed students
=650-559
=91

Failed = 14%
Passed = 559

let the total no. of students = x
failed+passed = x
14%+ 559 = x

[if we have given percentage of anything so we can convert it in number by =
given percentage ÷100 × Total number]

14%+559 = x
14× x÷ 100 + 559 = x
14x÷ 100 +559= x
14x+55900÷100 = x
14x+ 55900 = 100x
55900 = 100x - 14x
55900 = 86x
x = 55900÷86
x = 650

total no. of students is 650 so,

failed + passed = total no. of students
failed = total no of students - passed students
Failed = 650 - 559 = 91

so the failed students are 91
