Let, the total number of students appeared in exam be x

ATQ,

⇒       x- 75% of x    =   45

⇒          x - 75x/100 =   45

⇒  (100x - 75x)/100 =   45

⇒              25x/100  =   45

⇒                       x      =   45×100/25

⇒                        x     =  180

Thus total number of boys appeared in exam are  180
