Marks Scored By candidate = 125

∵ He failed by 15 marks

∴ Passing marks = (125+15) marks

                           = 140 Marks

∵ Pass marks percentage = 35 %

∴  Passing Marks = 35 % of Total marks

⇒      140 Marks   = (35/100) * Total Marks

⇒   Total Marks = 140 Marks / (35/100)

⇒   Total Marks = 140 Marks * 100 / 35

⇒ Total Marks =   14000 Marks / 35

⇒ Total Marks =   400 Marks

Hence,

Maximum Marks = 400 Marks
