Given,

In an exam of General Knowledge and Computers, 31% and 26% students failed in General Knowledge and Computers respectively. If 8% students failed both in General Knowledge and Computers.

To find,

The percentage of students who passed in both the exams.

let n(C) is the number of students failed in computer science.

so, n(C) = 26 %

n(G) is the number of students failed in general knowledge.

so, n(G) = 31 %

number of students failed in both exams, n(C n G) = 8%

now using formula,

n(C U G) = n(C) + n(G) - n(C n G)

⇒n(C U G) = 26% + 31% - 8% = 49 %

49% students failed in either computer science or general knowledge.

now number of students passed in both exams = 100% - 49% = 51%

Therefore 51 % students passed in both exams.
