In examination failed

In Bengali = 17 -5= 12%

In English =18 -5= 13%

In both subject = 5%

Total students failed = 30%

Percentage of passed students = 100-30= 70%

The percentage of students passed in the exam is 70%.

  • The percentage of total students is 100%.

In the examination 17% students failed in Bengali and 18% failed in English.

5% of the students failed in both subjects.

  • n(A) = 17 , n(B) = 18 and n(A∩B) = 5

The total percentage of students failed in the examination is n(A∪B).

Now,

n(A∪B) = n(A) + n(B) - n(A∩B)

n(A∪B) = 17 + 18 - 5 = 30

  • Total percentage of students failed in the exam is 30%.
  • Now the percentage of students passed in the exam is 100 - 30 = 70%.
