Hey mate

The answer ✅ ✅ is here,

Given :

The appearance of candidates in the exam was 2000

Out of the 2000, no. of girl candidates were 800.

There are 80% girls and 70% boys passed the exam

To find :

Percentage of students who failed in the examination

Solution :

The no. of boys in the examination = Total candidates - No. of girls candidates

= 2000 - 800

= 1200

The no. of boys candidates is 1200

The no. of girls who passed the exam = 800 × 80 ÷100

= 640

The no. of boys who passed the exam = 1200 × 70 ÷ 100

= 840

Now,

Total no. of the candidates who passed the exam = Total no. of girls who passed the exam + total no. of boys who passed the exam

= 640 + 840

= 1480

The no. of candidates who failed in the exam = Total no. of candidates - Total no. of candidates who passed the exam

= 2000 - 1480

= 520

Now,

The percentages of students who failed in the exam = Total no. of students who failed in the exam × 100 ÷ Total no. of candidates

= 520 × 100 ÷ 2000

= 26%

Thus,

26% students failed in the examination.
