Formula used:-

Sci U Ss = n(Sci)+n(Ss)-n(Sci U Ss)

Solution:-

Let total Students be 100x

35x students failed in Science

42x failed in social studies

32x failed in both subjects

Using Formula of Sets.

percentage of total failed students

➾ n(Sci)+n(Ss)-n(Sci U Ss)

➾35x + 42x - 32x

➾45x

   45%
