Let the number of candidates applied for the examination be x.

Number of ineligible candidates = 95%.(100 - 5%).

Eligible candidates of other categories = 15% of (95% of x)

                                                                  = 15/100 * 95/100 * x

                                                                  = 57/400x.

Given that Candidates belonged to other categories = 4275.

 57/400 x= 4275

x = 4275 * 400/57

   = 30000.
