In an examination 50% of students passed in mathematics and 70% students passed in science while 10% of students failed in both subjects. 300 students at least passed in one subject. find the total number of students appeared in only two subjects.

Solution:-
50% of student passes in maths
70℅ are passed in science
10℅ of the total are failed in both subject
300 student at least passes in one subject

Now,
Let the total number of students passed be x.
Total student=100%
Passes student=(100-10)=90
Total passed in at least one subject=
=(50+70)-90
=30

Now,
30℅ of the students are passed in at least on subject

 =  >  \frac{ x \times 30}{100}  = 300
 =  > 30x = 100 \times 300
 =  > 30x = 30000
 =  > x =  \frac{30000}{30}
  =  > x = 1000
Hence,
Total number of students appeared in examination is 1000
