if 60%are passed in hindi and 70%in english so
student  fail in hindi =100-60=40%
student fail in english =100-70=30%
40+30 =70
if 25% are fail in both then
70-25
=45%

The overall pass percentage is 75℅.

Percentage that passed in both is 55℅.

Percentage of students who failed in both = 25℅

So the percentage of students who passed in either one or both =( 100-25)℅ = 75℅

Percentage of students who passed in Hindi= 60℅

Percentage of students who passed in English = 70℅

So percentage passed in either both or one =( 60+70)℅ = 130℅

But as seen above, it should be equal to 75℅

The extra percentage represents the candidates who passed in both subjects which is (130-75)℅ = 55℅

So overall pass percentage is : Percentage passed in only Hindi+ only English+ both = 75℅.
