Therefore the number of those who passed will be:
65% of x = 65/100 × x = 0.65x candidates
The percentage of the remaining candidates is 100% - 65% = 35%
The percentage of those who failed will b:
35% - 17% = 18
18%/2 = 9%
9% + 17% = 26%
Therefore those who failed were 26% of the candidates and those who did not turn up were 9%.
The number of those who failed:
26% of x = 26/100 x = 0.26x
The number of those who did not turn up:
9% of x = 9/100 x = 0.09x
In this question you need at least a figure that correlates to one of the groups of candidates to solve it.
