In an examination 80% of the students
passed in Mathematics and 70% passed in
English, while 10% of the students failed in
both the subjects. If 360 students passed in
both the subjects, find the total number of

Step-by-step explanation:

let total student = 100%

if 80% passed in mathematics, failed = 20%

if 75% passed in English, failed= 25%

and failed in both subject = 15%

total failed = 20+25-15 = 30% ( 15% subtracted to stop repetition of students in both subject)

if 30% failed then total passed = 70%

given 350 passed in both subject

so 70% = 350

then total 100% = (350/70)×100 = 5×100

= 500 student
