the percentage of passing candidates=94%

the percentage of fail candidates=100-94=6%

And the number of fail candidates=114

AS PER THE QUESTION

=>

x \times 6\% = 114 \\  =  >  \frac{6 \times x}{100}  = 114 \\  \\  =  > 6x = 114 \times 100 \\  =  > x = 19 \times 100 \\  =  > x = 1900

hence:-

the total candidates appear 1900
