Question :-

In an examination, a student must get 30% marks to pass. A student who gets 240 marks, fails by 24 marks. Find the maximum marks

Given :-

Min percent of marks required = 30%

Marks scored by student = 240

He fails by 24 marks.

To Find :-

The maximum marks.

Solution :-

Given that if the student have had scored 24 marks more then he would have passed

therefore,

minimum marks = 240 + 24 = 264.

Now, let the total marks be x

According to question,

30% of x = 264

=>\: {\dfrac{30 \times x}{100}}\: =\: 264

=>\: x\: =\: {\dfrac{264 \times 100}{30}}

=> x = 880

Therefore, total marks is 880
