He got 24% marks and he needs 24 more marks to pas-s the exam.

Given : In an examination, a student must get 40% marks to pas-s.If a student gets 36 marks out of 150

To find : Expressing his marks in percentage and more marks needed to pas-s the exam.

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to calculate the percentage of his obtained marks and

more marks needed to pas-s the exam)

Now, his marks expressed in percentage will be :

= 100 × (His obtained marks / Total marks of the exam)

= 100 × (36/150)

= 24%

Now, pas-sing marks :

= Total marks of the exam × 40%

= 150 × 40%

= 150 × (40/100)

= 60

Necessary more marks to pas-s the exam :

= Pas-sing marks - Marks obtained by him

= 60 - 36

= 24

Hence, he got 24% marks and he needs 24 more marks to pas-s the exam.
