In an examination ,a student requires 40 present of the total marks to pass .if Rupa gets 185 marks and fail by 15 marks , find the total marks . In the simple equations

Minimum marks to pass=185+15=200
Let the maximum (total) marks be x
Therefore,
40%of x=200
40/100x=200
x=200*100/40
x=500
