Let Arun's score in the examination be 100 marks

As Gautam's score is 25 % more than Arun's score. Then, Gautam's score in the examination = 100 + (25 % of 100)

100 + (100*25)/100

= 100 + 25

Gautam's score = 125 marks

Difference between scores of both = 125 - 100

= 25 marks

Percentage of Arun's score less than Gautam's score = (25*100/125)

⇒ 2500/125

= 20 %

So, Arun's scores is 20 % less than Gautam's scores.
