Given:

In an examination hall,

No. of students appearing in English exam = 350

No. of students appearing in Mathematics exam = 210

Students of the same subject have to sit in the same class

Also, no. of students is same in all classes

To find:

The minimum number of rooms.

Solution:

Firstly, we will find the maximum no. of students each room will have and to get that we will calculate the H.C.F. of 350 & 210 by prime factorisation method.

Factors of 350 & 210:

350 = 2 × 5 × 5 × 7

210 = 2 × 3 × 5 × 7

H.C.F. :

∴ H.C.F. of 350 & 210 = 2 × 5 × 7 = 70

Now, secondly, we have,

No. of students in each room = 70

and

Total no. of students appearing for both the exams = 350 + 210 = 560

∴ The required no. of rooms = \frac{Total\:no.\:of\:students}{No.\:of\:students\:in \:each\:room}  = \frac{560}{70} = \bold{8}

Thus, the minimum no. of rooms required is 8.
