let the marks of mohan = x

Ram's marks = 3 times of mohan

= 3x

together they scored = 116 marks

x + 3x = 116

4x = 116 => x = 29

Answer:

marks obtained by mohan

= x = 29 marks

marks obtained by Ram

= 3x = 3(29) = 87 marks

Hey there,here is Ur solution:

Let the marks obtained by ram and Mohan be x and y.
Now according to the question marks obtained by ram is the same as three times the marks obtained by Mohan
or,x=3y
Also,x+y=116----------(1)
Now,putting the value of x in equation (1):
3y+y=116
or,4y=116
or,y=29.
Now by equation (1), x=87.
Therefore,x=87 and y=29.

Hope this helpzz.....
