Varun got marks =251

He got failed by 19 marks

So, passing marks = 251+19 =270

Let the maximum marks be x

We are given that a student has to secure 45%Marks to pass the exam

So, 40\% \times x = 27040%×x=270

\frac{40}{100} \times x = 270

100

40

×x=270

x = 270 \times \frac{100}{40}x=270×

40

100

x = 675x=675

Hence the maximum marks is 675
