Step-by-step explanation:

a got 10 percent less than b

=> a = b - 10% of b

=> a = 90% of b => b = 10/9 x a --------- (1)

b got 25 percent more than c

=> b = c + 25% of c

=> b = 125% of c => c = 4/5 x b --------- (2)

c got 20 percent less than b

=> c = d - 20% of d

=> c = 80% of d => d = 5/4 x c --------- (3)

but given, a got 360 marks

=> b = 10/9 x a = 10/9 x 360 = 10 x 40 = 400

=> c = 4/5 x b = 4/5 x 400 = 4 x 80 = 320

=> d = 5/4 x c = d = 5/4 x 320 = 400

Given, total marks = 500

.•. % of marks secured by d

= 400/500 x 100 = 80%
