The above data illustrates "Law of Definite Proportion".

• It means that an element always combines with another fixed element in a constant ratio.

• In the first case, 5 g of metal combined with 5.59 g of chlorine to form 10.59 g metal chloride.

• Next 1.5 g of the metal combined with 1.68 g of chlorine.

• So,

• 5/5.59 = 0.8944

• 1.5/ 1.68 = 0.892,

which are same
