The reaction between Ba(OH)2 and dil. H2SO4 is :

Ba(OH) 2 + dil. H2SO4 --> BASO4 (s) + 2H2O (l)

The two processes involved in this reaction are :

  • Precipitation reaction ( BaSO4 is insoluble & it precipitates out.
  • Displacement reaction ( Clearly it is a displacement reaction as Ba combines with SO4 of H2SO4 & displaces (OH) 2)
