In an experiment mileage of a car was measured to be 24 kmpl (Kilometer per liter of fuel consumed). After the experiment it was found that 4 % of the fuel used during the experiment was leaked through a small hole in the tank. Calculate the actual mileage of the car after the tank was repaired.

So , mileage of car was tested 24kmpl

i.e. 24 km in 1000ml .

4% fuel was leaked . left 100-4 = 96%

96% of 1000ml is 960 ml .

so , in 960 ml , it goes 24 km

in 1 ml , it goes 24/960 .

in 1000 ml , it will go (24/960)×1000

= 25 km

so , the actual mileage is 25 kmpl
