In an experiment to determine the relative density of cork , the following observations were made . Weight of sinker in water w1 = 200 gf , weight of cork in air and sinker in water w2 = 220 gf, weight of cork and sinker both in water w3 = 140 gf . Calculate upthrust of cork due to water ,volume of cork and relative density of cork

Answer:

Cork is a light material whose density is lesser than that of water. ... In order to submerge the cork, we must weigh it down with a sinker. ... Weight of cork in air = 13.7gf−12.6gf=1.1gf
